According to TechCrunch one of their Asian sources have claimed that Apple placed an order for a massive amount of cameras of a similar type that appear in the iPhone. The speculation is that Apple will be adding these inexpensive cameras (rumored to be about $10.00) inside their iPod line, presumably the iPod Touch. It all makes sense as the lines between iPhone and iPod Touch are becoming more blurred. This obviously could mean pictures AND possibly video for the iPod line. This news comes just a few days after another rumor showing an iPod touch case with an opening in the back for a camera. This is just another step towards Apple’s world dominance (Check out their 1984 commercial - ironic huh?)

If they put video feature, I wonder what that would do to Pure Digital:
Wifi + Video + Camera = FlipCam killer

This could be a deal breaker for a device like the Zune HD. I’d probably still get the Zune, but that’s because I’ve got myself a Pre and don’t need another 3MP light sensor cam in my pocket just to have it. Props to Apple for possibly getting this done, but in my opinion, it’s a useless addon for most techies.

This if implemented correctly could topple the PMP market even more in Apple’s favor. Another thing I’d love to see in an ipod is a FM radio. Just as long as the price range stays about the same.

People could get this and downgrade their feature phones.

I just find it amusing that the 16GB touch is $20 cheaper than the 32GB iPhone. I get that you’re paying for service and all, it’s just amusing and odd when you first think about it.
